NFM Spring Fling 2022 Tournament Playing Rules
Thank you again for attending our 2022 Spring Fling Tournament. Pool play will take place during the week (and weekend for 8u & 10u). Pool Winners and 2-3 Wild Cards (depending on size of division) will qualify for single-elimination bracket play on the weekend. Each League that wins a division will receive a “Traveling Trophy” to display at their fields and defend at the next year's Spring Fling. First Place teams will receive championship rings, and Second Place teams will receive medals.
This is an exhibition tournament and it is meant to be FUN!
1 team cooler is allowed per team
6u T-Ball is Single-Elimination Bracket Play only. No Pool Play for 6u.
Pool Play - 8u-15u each play 2 games within their pool.
Pool Play Drop Dead Times - (1:30 8-12u,15u 2:00) if an inning has not been completed the score will revert back to the last completed inning. If the home team is ahead as time expires, the game is over. Tied or losing, it reverts to the last completed inning. When time expires the game is over, and will not finish an at bat.
Teams need to be ready to play by the time of their game, warm-ups need to be done prior to the game. There is no additional field time for warm-ups.
Home/Away - 6u is coin flip for all games. 8u-15u Pool Play is 2nd team listed on schedule for each game is Home Team, and Bracket Play is higher seed choice.
At the conclusion of the game, all players and coaches will tip caps to the other team and then immediately exit the dugout for the next game to get started. (Please have team meetings off the field.)
Umpires have been instructed to keep things moving and will enforce the 60 sec rule in between innings (prevents teams from sandbagging time). They will call balls and strikes if the fielding or batting team is not ready.
Time called rules will follow Cal Ripken rules, meaning time will be called on a play when the ball is in front of the lead runner and base runners have stopped attempting to advance
All Coaches from all divisions must coach from foul territory, no on-field coaches (other than a team coach at 8u pitching machine). Coaches can stand in foul territory near 1st and 3rd base.
6u and 8u can have 4 outfielders
6 Runs per inning Cap in place for 8u and down
No run cap per inning 10u and up (Cal Ripken Tournament Rules)
Mercy Rule 15 after 3, 10 after 4 (15u is 15 after 4, 10 after 5)
Tournament Pitching Limits are in effect.
Pitching machine set at 10 (43) tournament standard, 4 pitches (3 strikes). Batter will continue to receive pitches if fouls ball, umpire may determine a "no pitch" if the ball is delivered outside the strike zone unless the batter swings. If ball hits pitching machine, it is a dead ball, and batter gets 1 base (unless a defensive player touches it before hitting the machine.)
Continuous Lineups (must bat everyone-no subs, no EPs)
Tournament Volunteer Keeps Official Pitch Count
Courtesy Runners MAY be used for Catchers ONLY during Pool Play. Courtesy Runner MUST be last recorded out.
